Approximately Common Priors1

چکیده
I show that if one is only interested in local results — that is, theorems about what is true at a state — which only depend on finitely many orders of beliefs about beliefs, then the common prior assumption is essentially irrelevant. More precisely, given any model where priors have the same support and any finite N, there is another model with common priors which has the same nth order beliefs for all n N. In this sense, priors with the same support are (locally) approximately common.

Finite Order Implications of Common Priors1
I characterize the implications of the common prior assumption for finite orders of beliefs about beliefs at a state and show that in finite models, the only such implications are those stemming from the weaker assumption of a common support. More precisely, given any finite N and any finite partitions model where priors have the same support, there is another finite partitions model with commo...
متن کاملMedical Image Computing Automatic Brain Tumor Segmentation by Subject Specific Modification of Atlas Priors1
Rationale and Objectives. Manual segmentation of brain tumors from magnetic resonance images is a challenging and time-consuming task. An automated system has been developed for brain tumor segmentation that will provide objective, reproducible segmentations that are close to the manual results. Additionally, the method segments white matter, grey matter, cerebrospinal fluid, and edema. The seg...
متن کاملشناسایی مولکولی گونههای کاندیدای جدا شده از زنان مبتلا به ولوواژینیت کاندیدایی: گزارش کوتاه
Background: Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is a common infection, affecting up to 75% of women during their lifetimes. Approximately 5% of patients may experience recurrent VVC. Candida albicans is the most common causative agent of VVC. The objectives of this study were identification of candida species isolated of women with vulvovaginal candidiasis by molecular method in Arak city. Methods:...
متن کاملThe role of genetics in alzheimer’s disease
Alzheimer's disease is a progressive neurological disorder that causes the brain to shrink (atrophy) and brain cells die. Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia and causes a decrease in thinking skills and social behaviors. Alzheimer's disease is more common in people over 65 years old. The risk of developing Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia increases with age,...
متن کاملA Systematic Approach to Photonic Crystal Based Metamaterial Design
Photonic crystal design procedure for negative refraction has so far been based on trial and error. In this paper, for the first time, a novel and systematic design procedure based on physical and mathematical properties of photonic crystals is proposed to design crystal equi-frequency contours (EFCs) to produce negative refraction. The EFC design is performed by the help of rectangular stair-c...
